At Radiation Detection and Imaging (RDI), we have spent several years working on a problem that is largely invisible outside radiation oncology: how do we know exactly what a fast, complex cancer treatment beam actually delivered?

Modern proton therapy delivers radiation through thousands of precisely placed beam spots. Yet conventional quality assurance instruments can average away important spatial and temporal details. We built ONYX to capture the complete radiation field continuously, resolve individual beam spots, and give medical physicists a much clearer view of treatment delivery.

We now have two working prototypes tested with Mayo Clinic in Arizona, four U.S. utility patents, and a recent machine-learning advancement that makes our image reconstruction approximately 20 times faster. This is no longer merely an idea. Our next challenge is turning validated technology into a successful commercial product.
